About this deal

Echoes of Fear opens with an elderly man (Norman Zeller – Malignant) taking a shower, who promptly dies in mysterious circumstances. Hostile Wildlife - Wolves roam the map and they are very sneaky, you will need to keep your head on a swivel when you are out roaming around. While most of the horror is psychological there are some violent and disturbing scenes including a sword stick being put to good use and a couple of stranglings .

Echoes of Fear : After her grandfather dies in a bathroom fall, Alysa (Trista Robinson) inherits his house and prepares it for sale. There are some genuine scary moments and when you realise the actual storyline and how it plays out it's really dark and very sinister. It’s uneven as hell, the opening far too slow, but it redeems itself by the end, presenting a horror film that doesn’t just follow the same old tropes (other than the jump scares) and instead tries to do something new. No one even myself can judge if a film is going to be good or bad after 5 minutes, you have to give it time before you can decide it’s not for you.

There are a couple of minor issues with some of the writing- the ones I mentioned earlier but definitely check this one out if paranormal horror is your thing. The jump scares are genuine moments and just going along with the main character uncovering such a disturbing past is horror done right. But THEN, by the end, everything had been explained, all questions were answered, the stakes were high and I found myself really enjoying it again so… how on earth to rate this film when I spent as much time hating it as enjoying it? As others have mentioned, the lead character has a soft baby-like voice, which is obviously a little distracting since it's my first comment and the first comment made by many other reviewers too. Then by halfway through it had actually accomplished a feat few movies these days are capable of – it made me jump and squeal like a child, with a really beautifully executed scare. The film was inspired by several real life killings, from the Hillside Strangler being two cousins to the ghost rapes of Bolivia, where women in a Bolivian Mennonite community were convinced that ghosts or demons were attacking them in their sleep when it was really men using animal anesthetic. But as the film progresses, she starts making smart decisions rather than trite, tired ones; she shows a surprising amount of passion and energy in her performance, even if the script is determined to try and sabotage her. Good grief, why do so many female actors have their mouths gaping open like an idiot in every other scene? Echoes of Fear invites you to unravel ancient mysteries beneath the tranquil facade of a valley frozen in time. The pacing is definitely a problem because things seem to move too slow, however, the mystery aspect of the story helps maintain interest.

The horror elements are a mix of traditional haunted house tropes, chilling visual scenes and very dark subject matter. Sure, the acting is just so-so, and the production values are not great at all, but judging it for what it is, I enjoyed it.You never can tell with a lot of these - well lets be honest , B movies - whether you will get to the end and declare to yourself , ' there is 90 mins of my life that I wont get back ' , however I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a movie , give it a chance it wont disappoint . Explore the breathtaking Valley, take in the beautiful scenery while at the same time gathering clues to help determine the final location of the Artifact. Most people who like suspense will enjoy this movie because there are enough scare scenes and unknowns to keep it interesting.
